Lías Finas Blanco Honorio: An special Rioja Wine with a long family tradition

Lías Finas Blanco

Honorio Rubio is a Riojan winemaker with a long family tradition. Despite from its more classic wines line, this producer has a less conventional one that fits our protagonist today.
Honorio Rubio Lías Finas Edición Limitada 2015 is a Viura single varietal cold fermented in stainless steel vats, then it goes into French oak barrels to age on its lees for six months, and finally returns to the steel tank to rest on its fine lees for another ten months. After being bottomed, it will remain at least five months in the cellar before being sold.

Initially, its intense color is striking. On the nose we find white fruit (apple and pear), with sweet notes that appear when it’s oxygenated. Its palate is simple. It stands out for its glyceric and silky texture, with the presence of citrus fruits and a pleasant bitterness that makes the end of the sip especially pleasant.

This is another example of how interesting Rioja white wines can be, often eclipsed by their red brothers.
